Brief
What we set out to achieve
- An app that genuinely helps with water and dust in the speaker
- Fully offline operation, with no account and no data collection
- Simple controls: cleaning with one tap
- A fair model: the basics free, Premium without pressure
- A website that collects sign ups before release
Challenge
Why we took it on
When an iPhone gets damp or dust gets into the speaker grille, the sound turns quieter and distorted. The speaker membrane can push the water out by itself, though, if it gets the right sound.
We set the brief ourselves: the app has to work completely without the internet, must not collect or upload anything, has to explain truthfully what it can and cannot do, and at the same time has to stay sustainable without outside ad networks.
Solution
What we did and why
The right sound instead of ultrasound. A low tone around 165 Hz moves the speaker membrane the most, and rapidly pulsing the volume breaks the surface tension of a droplet in the grille. A higher band works on dust. Out of that came six programs: from a 15 second water ejection to a full clean lasting 1 minute 28 seconds and a final speaker test.
Other tools. The noise detector shows the sound level from 20 to 120 dB with a plain description, for example “conversation”. The sound is analyzed only in the phone's memory and is never saved anywhere. The mosquito mode plays pulsing high tones.
Privacy first. The app has no account, no analytics and no server, and it uses no external libraries. In the App Store it will therefore carry the “Data Not Collected” label (we collect no data at all). Even the Premium promotion sits inside the app itself, with no ad networks.
Honest wording. The app says openly that it will not repair liquid damage, that the noise detector is an estimate rather than a calibrated measurement, and that the effect of ultrasound on mosquitoes is not scientifically proven.
Sales through Apple. The basics are free with limits, and Premium is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one time purchase through StoreKit 2 (Apple's purchasing system). Automated tests guard the rules of the free version.
The website before launch. On meaunda.meaovis.com we built a bilingual page (English and Slovak) with previews of the features, a sign up form and its own llms.txt file for AI search engines. The first 50 people who sign up get Premium free forever.
Delivery
What the project includes
- A native app for iPhone and iPad (iOS 18 and newer) in SwiftUI
- Six programs for cleaning and testing the speaker
- A noise detector from 20 to 120 dB and a mosquito mode
- An interface in English and Slovak
- Subscriptions and a one time purchase through StoreKit 2
- Automated tests for the rules of the free version
- A bilingual website with a sign up form and llms.txt
Results
What you can verify
The figures come from the app's technical documentation and from meaunda.meaovis.com. We will add App Store ratings after release.
Process
How the project ran (6 weeks)
-
Research
How a speaker membrane behaves and which tones really do push the water out.
-
Audio engine
Real time tone generation, programs and automatic speaker selection.
-
Interface
Screens in SwiftUI, a dark design, Slovak and English.
-
Premium and tests
StoreKit 2, the rules of the free version and automated tests.
-
Website and submission
A page with a sign up form and submission of the app to the App Store.
Technologies
What it runs on
- Swift and SwiftUI
- the native Apple tools that make the app fast and make it look like part of the iPhone
- AVAudioEngine
- the iOS audio system that generates the tones in real time
- StoreKit 2
- secure purchases and subscriptions directly through Apple
- Swift Testing
- automated tests that guard the app's rules
